OnePlus 11 Review: Powerful, but Not Perfect

Over the course of three weeks we examined the OnePlus 11. The new phone worked hard during our tests to become a flagship.

The companys first true flagship the $699 Oneplus 11 willbe available in 2023 and offers a lot to be excited about. This phone puts in a lot of effort to earn its status as a flagship from its sleek new design to its super power processor and fast charging capabilities.

However it does not significantly improve upon the excellent OnePlus 10 Pro from last year. It has a similar design a significant arguably redundant increase in power and agood new camera setup that does not represent a significant advacement.You maybe disappointed if you were expecting a radical new OnePlus phone. Upgrades are not recommended for current OnePlus devices.

 

OnePlus 11: A refreshed design, now with added waterproofing

The flagship from OnePlus will be released in 2023 with a new design. It will have a circular camera instead of the square one that was on the 10 Pro and it will be surrounded by metal that curves gracefully to meet the phones edge. the curving glass on the both front and back of my review model makes it satisfying to hold and the green color makes it look smart stylish all at the same time.

 The phone looks great to me. It manages to stand out from its predecessors while remaining recongnizable enough to make one feel like they belong to the same family. Since the glass is toughened Gorilla Glass shattering it is unlikely. The new phone surpasses the 10 Pro in water resistance with an IP 64 rating. We have come to expect  waterproofing on all flagship devices so it was disappointing that the majority to the 10 Pro modles did not. As a result its good to see more offical protection in this area.

OnePlus 11: Potent power

The aforementioned Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 GEN 2 processor and a robust 16 GB of RAM power of the phone. It has a powerful chip that scored very well on our set of benchmark tests it one of the most powerful phone currently available.

OnePlus 11: Cameras that could do better

The OnePlus 11 has three main cameras on the back a main camera with 50 megapixel an 1.8 lens optical image stabilization a 48 megapixel ultrawide camera with close focusing macro capabilities and a portrait camera with 32 megapixels and a 2X optical zoom. Im disappointed by the portrait camera even though the triple camera setup is fairly predictable.

OnePlus 11: Solid battery and fast charging

As long as you are reasonably careful with how you use the phone its 5000mAh battery can last you through a full day of use. After one hour of streaming a youtube video the battery dropped from full to 92% with the display set to its maximum resolution of 3216 x 1440 pixels the refresh set to 120 HZ and the screen brightness set to maximum. It had decreased to only 85% remaining after the second hour which is not a great performance.

OnePlus 11: All Tests

from bright sunlight to dim indoor scenes all of the cameras are put through their paces in a variety of environments. We test our special features like portrait mode and night mode and contrast our findings with those of competing phones priced similarly. We also conduct a series of battery drain tests and use the device everyday to evaluate its battery life.
